Long Time No Post

Sorry for the harsh delay in posts, been pretty busy with school and filming and all.

So our series that I spoke of last time hit a pretty hefty speed bump, hopefully we'll be able to get it rolling again. You can see the first episode here though.

We've been thinking about hosting a livestream to talk about some of the goings on within the studio, and potentially answer any questions our audience has for us. If you guys would actually watch this, tell us in the comments or on our youtube channel.

Overall, things have been pretty smooth, a few speed bumps here and there, but nothing too big thus far. Me and the guys at the studio hope you all have a safe holiday season.

New Series?!?!?!

Yep, finally happening.

We're making another attempt at a new series. It's nothing extraordinarily original, but if you'd like to get a more in-depth look at some of the things we do when we're not filming on xbox live, you'll probably enjoy this show.

This is an improv show, meaning there's no script. Now, this doesn't mean that we've given up on scripted machinimas, but things are moving pretty slow in that department due to pre-production constraints, so we wanted to give our audience 'something' new for this fall.

We haven't confirmed the title yet, but keep an eye on our channel. We're filming the show on Wednesday, editing it for a few days, and you'll probably see the pilot live sometime next week. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Greetings From Riverside. What?

So, Greetings From Riverside, GFR, yeah.

Figured it's time to fess up to a few things about Riverside. I know a lot of folks were wondering why we ever stopped that show. Well for you newcomers, let me tell you a story.

When we first started the show, we actually got a really mixed review on it. We were getting about 50% likes, and 50% dislikes. Not a big deal, we've pushed through videos like that, but what hit us was the fact that we weren't getting enough views on the episodes.

With the way we had to film that show back then, it took months of work to get one episode out. Filming it required first: Playing through the campaign level 4 times with hopefully the same zombie-spawning-scheme. And in those 4 playthoughs, we had to get a total of 5-8 people together to work on it. All that work took about 3-4 days, but the killers were editing and voice acting.

Voice acting took an extremely long time. We wanted to film with higher quality mics, so we had to do it individually. This meant that I couldn't critique the lines before they were sent to me, so it took 2-3 days just to get a few lines done, and if you watched the show, there were plenty more than just a few lines.

As for editing, with this show I had to use a cropping effect, due to the fact that we were filming it on a console. This was a big sacrifice to the film quality, but we were willing to take it. The unfortunate part about this was that the cropping effect wasn't found in the editing system I was used to. So I had to learn an entirely new editing system before production of this show could continue. And let me tell you, that system was not nearly as efficient as the one we normally use. Both memory-wise, and sanity-wise, it was draining. Editing took several weeks.

Needless to say, we had to put a lot of work into making an episode of GFR, and the fact that we weren't getting enough views made it not worthwhile, so the show was cancelled.

Now here's the good part. Greetings From Riverside is back on the table. We have many more efficient ways to fix a lot of the problems we were facing, main one being voice acting. We now have the technology to record our voices with multiple people online, so we can actively film and critique one another, allowing us to get more accurate and believable dialogue.

Editing might be spared as well. The cropping effect was needed in our first attempt at the show because we were filming on a console, and thusly couldn't get rid of the HUD, now we're doing some testing on steam, to see if we can potentially film it from my computer.

If both go well, making this series is much more doable, and it might work out.

Again, nothing is confirmed, but we're trying guys. We loved GFR, and we hope we can bring it back.

Halo Four eh?

Hey guys,

Sorry for the severe delay in studio updates, I'm sure you guys have been wondering about Halo 4 and Game Over Studios. Now, simply due to the way we like to handle things here, I'm not gonna reveal too much about our current plans, but the idea for the series "Halo Fourges" has been tossed around the studio for a bit, we're still not 100% on it for several reasons.

We have been doing Halo Forges since 2007, so before we jump into Halo 4, we're gonna be making sure our fan base really wants it. So we'll be looking at view counts on our videos, determining if we're getting enough out of the series to continue it.

Although we have been sort of the one horse studio, so far it has been working out pretty well. This is not to say we haven't had some really good ideas for shows thrown around here in the studio, it's that we've dedicated so much time to Halo Forges, that it's hard to fit another show in our filming schedule.

We have several other games that were featured at E3 that we're keeping an eye on, one of them being Farcry 3 due to Farcry 2's unbelievable map editor. Plus a few others that have been giving us some other ideas for scripted Machinimas.

We still have the scripts from old series that we attempted. Some are being edited to hopefully better them. Who knows, an old series may pop right back up, we'll just have to see. Currently we're in pre-production of a new scripted machinima, and soon we'll be reviewing the script to determine if it's a feasible show.

Sorry I can't tell you guys more details about what's going on in the studio right now, so many things are up in the air, I don't feel right telling you too much that may not happen.

Forgers where are you?!

Well, fortunately we've filmed enough episodes to supply our video que for the next month.

It's been gettin' harder and harder to find maps from the forging community. This is a standard cycle we often go through, we know many great forgers from the community, and they all seem to have the same map forging schedule. We'll get a rush of maps from them, and then there will be a dry spell as they work on their new maps.

This is good for the community I think, it allows us time to look at maps from people whom we've never featured before, although sometimes it forces us to scrape for maps. Oh well! See you all in our next episodes.

Hurray for Action Sack!

So Bungie recently released a few new variants for Action Sack, including Chess, which I hope you all have tried. But also some very unique opportunities in gametypes, stuff we've never seen before. We can't wait to film our next episode and show you guys.

We're ahead of the filming schedule, so episodes I'm talkin about probably wont reach you guys for a few weeks. Machinima just released episode 26 recently, and we've filmed episode 30 thus far. This isn't a bad thing in the slightest, actually it means you guys will most likely be seeing our videos on a more consistent basis (hopefully).

We've really got to push and shove our way through the shows which have more demand (shows such as Sanity Not Included, Sonic for Hire, etc.) in order to get aired as scheduled, so please be patient.

In other news, we've just been featured on Xforgery.com & Paradoxforums.com, check those guys out if you want to search for some maps on your own time!
