*Dies*

Finally! A chance to breathe.

Sorry I haven't been posting here guys, things have been insane. Just recently we've finished up the videos for winter break. Machinima needs us to submit a surplus of videos for the majority of December due to the many employees taking leave for that time frame. So videos will continue up to episode 17, and then we'll be getting back to work on new episodes around January 15th. If the guys at machinima post the videos in an orderly fashion, this shouldn't skew the schedule.

Finals have begun here at WCU, but they shall end promptly. I'll be heading home on Wednesday.

So just as things have calmed down, not much will be happening in Game Over Studios. I'll start posting more when things start happening again.

Later guys,

Halo Reach Forges (Ep. 3)

It's finally up!

Be sure to check it out HERE.

There may be a slight delay on episode 4 due to Youtube's new policies on foul language (Don't worry, nothing major, there's just one more word we can't use anymore).

I'll be editing and sending in episode 5 tonight, and we're gonna film episode 6 on Saturday.

Halo Reach Forges (Ep. 2) "Brute Chieftain"

Hey guys,

Episode 2 was released yesterday, you can view it here: HRF (Ep. 2)
Yes, it's of xSOGx Grim's Brute Chieftain. This was filmed far before the map got super popular, so we probably wont get that many views on it. But what the hell, it absolutely deserved a feature.

You'll be seeing a few more "less popular" maps (for now at least) coming up soon. With the weird assortment of my uploading schedule due to the mishap I had with Episode 2, I'm not exactly sure when Episode 3 will be released on youtube. But don't worry, you'll know.

Fixed

A couple of days ago I reuploaded the updated version of Episode 2, so you guys will finally be able to start seeing some more of our stuff just as soon as they upload it to youtube.

We've already uploaded all the way up to episode 4, and episode 5 has been shot, so we are ahead of schedule in terms of filming. Once everything gets sorted out, we hope to be releasing episodes bi-weekly.

IT'S OVER 100,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap, 100,000 views already on our first episode.

Well, if that map impressed you, you all will be blown away by our upcoming maps. Just as soon as I can get them posted...

These past few days I've been traveling, away from WCU, and away from my work. This was due to an opportunity that was presented to me in my field of work. The day I left, I was notified that I had made a mistake in the production of episode 2, so machinima could not post it yet. So yes, the severe delay in episodes has been due to that small mistake, I will be fixing it tonight when I finally return to WCU, but it should still be a few days before it's on youtube.

Thanks to everyone for supporting us in our new series! We can't wait to show you guys some of the AMAZING things we've been finding.

All is well

Filming's been going pretty smooth, this morning I finished editing episode 2 of HRF. Episode 1 should be viewable to our youtube audience within the week, and you'll probably see episode 2 by Wednesday.

I must say I am quite impressed with the forging community, there are a lot of unique maps out there that we really can't wait to show you guys.

Halo Reach Forges (Ep. 1) "*censored*"

Halo Reach Forges' first episode has been shot! And in HD!

Unfortunately I had to make a trip out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to upload the video until Sunday night at the earliest.

Chris Neir (CMNeir) made us a new intro to Halo Reach Forges, which looks very awesome. At the end of our "Traveling to Reach" video you'll see a snippet of it.

We're very excited to show off our first episode, we think you guys will really enjoy it. Until then, go make forges!

Cards, Money, Maps, and Skits

My new capture card arrived the other day. Unfortunately I need to purchase another piece of software to make it work to it's fullest level, this piece of software costing me about $80. Good thing though, is that we just received our payment from Machinima, so I should be able to cover it.

SO! Filming, we've been doing it.

As we always do when transitioning to another mainstream game, we've filmed an introduction to Halo: Reach. In this we'll have some skits about our transition into the new game, and a preview of what's to come on Halo Reach Forges.

Filming on a new capture card has been... Interesting. I've been using a demo version of some software to film, so it's actually been quite a hassle since it will only film 2 minutes at a time. Once I get the software I need, things will go smoother.

As for maps on Halo Reach, we've been finding some pretty amazing ones. We've even made one ourselves. Foolishly of us, we deleted someone's map to make a canvas because we were too lazy to start a new game, and made that map on it. As we quickly found out, Bungie fixed the whole "stealing maps" problem, and now when you make a map, your name is permanently marked on it. So though we deleted this map completely, his name is still on it.
Whatever, we'll still feature it.

I think everyone will enjoy HRF very much, the maps are quite amazing. I'm gonna try and finish up this intro skit today, and tonight we'll probably film our first episode of HRF.

Later guys,

Yay for mail... Not Really...

Hey guys,

So, remember how I said I ordered a new capture card? Well, I decided on a different one due to the fact that my Mac does not support USB3.

That being somewhat irrelevant, the package has not yet arrived. This has been due to my change in address, Amazon sent it to my original address, but now that I'm at college, I need to get it over here A.S.A.P.

I'm working to get it here quick, since Reach comes out in a week. But I don't know how it's gonna work out. One of two things will happen, we will either delay filming until it arrives, or we will film the first few episodes of Halo Reach Forges with our old capture card. We'll see.

Again, the earliest a new episode will be coming out is about a week after the release of Reach, and that's somewhat of a long shot since we have to film another short skit before starting on HRF. So we'll see, it's really a waiting/hoping game now. Regardless I will be getting my copy most likely at the midnight launch. See you all there!

Sweet Delicious Gigabytes

So, during the editing process of Halo 3 Forge's 80th episode, I found a lot of stock footage from old episodes that was never used. Normally I delete this footage after I filter out the bloopers, but I had forgotten to do this in some 10 episodes early on.

So needless to say, I deleted all of those useless clips and freed nearly 50 gigabytes on my external hard-drive. With all of this space, I moved a large amount of video from my mac's hard-drive to the external to free some of the motherboard.

With all of this free space, I have recovered my once lost application "FXHome EffectsPro." A very expensive editing system used to make high quality effects such as explosions, laser beams, lightsabers, and the like. So you may (MAY) see some of these new effects come into play in future episodes.

Those of you who watched Halo 3 Forges from the beginning (back in 2007), may remember an episode where we blew up Atomic on the top of a tower. To make that happen, I used this same application.

In other news, I am traveling to college this week. It's a three day trip that we are expanding over 4 days, so after Monday night, I probably wont be on again until at LEAST Saturday night. During this trip I will be visiting Mackenzie however, so some may hear me online briefly if we can pull ourselves away from our Magic: The Gathering battles.

I have pre-ordered Halo: Reach, so it will be arriving at my dorm on the day of release. Yes, this means that I won't be able to join everyone in the fun at the midnight launch unfortunately. If it is late by even a day I will be royally pissed.

Finally we will be upgrading to a higher quality capture card. Soon I will be purchasing the BlackMagic Intensity (an HD capture card recommended by CMNeir). So we will now be filming in HD!!!

In recent months we changed our filming strategy to 2 times a week. When Reach comes out we will be continuing this new filming schedule, so episodes should be queued high enough for them to be released on a regular basis on youtube.

A lot is still going on in Game Over Studios, but this is the time to do it. See you all in REACH!

Oh Good God it's Over!

8 total hours of editing time was spent on Halo 3 Forges (Ep. 80) "The Finale"
+ an overnight job of uploading the thing.

But I am quite satisfied with it. In it we'll be showing three maps that we wanted to get into the series, but couldn't due to various reasons.
After that, the episode will feature all the bloopers from Halo 3 Forges since we moved to Machinima.com, Which, as it turned out, was a lot.
And lastly we will be saying goodbye to Halo 3 with a short montage, and a little cliffhanger. Those of you who've watched us for a long time, may know what's coming next...

All I will say to those who haven't been around for so long, is that you can expect Halo Reach Forges to begin on, or very soon after the release date of Reach. We will most likely be filming on Day 1, or 2, or both. So episodes of Halo Reach Forges should reach the general youtube audience around the 22nd of September.

The end is simply another beginning

Game Over Studios' filming on Halo 3 has now officially ended.

Tonight we filmed our last episode of Halo 3 Forges, which is our last video that we will do on Halo 3 (To our knowledge).

It's been one hell of a ride, and I would like to thank all of those who have followed us from the time we were just a small studio releasing "Jackass' in Halo" videos. Over 100 episodes of our acclaimed show later, and we're still moving forward.

Halo: Reach is the future for us, and what a bright future it appears to be. Let's just hope Reach is all it's been said to be.

And... CUT!

So a few nights ago we finished up our filming (map-wise) for Halo 3 Forges. We'll be having an extra episode saying our farewells to Halo 3 and Halo 3 Forges. Just as we did with our transition from Halo 2 to Halo 3, we'll be stepping into the teleporter to Reach.

This does mean that we are no longer looking for maps on Halo 3, so submitted maps will unfortunately be nulled. But to all those forgers out there, start preparing for Reach! We will need maps as soon as the game comes out!

We have enough episodes in que that should last us a good portion of the way to the release date of Reach, so not to worry, you'll be seeing plenty of us until then.

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Wow... Already?

I was caught a little off guard recently by how soon Halo: Reach is coming out, thusly lowering our view count on our videos (at least that's what I hope, and that it's not the quality of the show).

Wolf and I recently looked over the maps we have left to film, and it was one of the few times I've ever heard Wolf say "We got nothing." Truly it seems that all of the big time forgers have decided to save their submissions for Reach. We actually have confirmations on this from several of the great forgers out there. It hit me then that I have to start planning for the end of Halo 3 Forges.

DO NOT PANIC. We are still continuing on with Halo: Reach Forges, and we will have several more episodes of Halo 3 Forges, in fact we are filming tonight with some of our last few maps.

I feel assured enough with our audience to announce that Halo 3 Forges will be ending at episode 80, which still has yet to be filmed. We will be filming episodes 78 and 79 tonight, and spending some more time focused on episode 80 before we release it. These episodes should all come out pretty timely with the release of Reach, so not to worry, H3F will still be releasing episodes almost to the release date of Reach.

We plan to have a "Farewell to Halo 3" episode from the GOS cast coming out as well. Along with a "Traveling to Reach" skit when the game is released.

"Halo Reach Forges" production will begin immediately upon the release of Halo: Reach. We know how fast the community will be working with the new Forge World, so we're gonna get our videos out as soon as possible, you can probably expect the first episode of "Halo Reach Forges" to be aired on youtube no later than 10 days from the release date of Halo Reach. Even our veteran forgers from within our own studio have plans for new maps that will hopefully be released on the show.

So that's the plan. We're gearin' up for Reach, and we hope you forgers out there are as well!

Forge World?!?!?!?!

Well, if you haven't already seen it, go look up bungie's newest Vidoc. They released footage for the new forge mode in Halo: Reach. After seeing it we are all very optimistic about the future of Halo: Reach Forges.

Currently (in my opinion) the best map creator out there belongs to Farcry 2, but once Reach is released, that title may given to Halo's newest installment. The only thing that Farcry still has that it doesn't look like Reach will have is a terrain editor, but we'll see.

In other news, Richard and Mackenzie have returned home after quite an awesome week. Several of our videos are still in line to be released on Youtube, so we took a few days off of filming to enjoy the trip. But don't worry, there will be no delays in episode releases. I am currently in the process of editing episode 76, so the stuff we've done recently wont be released for a few weeks.

Fun, but not in the Sun

Richard (Dragon munday) and Mackenzie (Mackynz) arrived on Saturday to hang out for the week.

So far we've gone to the flea market several times to buy swords and knives, gone to one of my swordsmanship classes, made midnight runs with Caleb (TNS Tasadarr) to walmart to buy Magic: the gathering cards, played lots of video games, and lots of Magic: The Gathering.

We don't have anything currently "planned" for today, but I'm sure we'll figure somethin' out. On Wednesday we'll be going to a wolf howling, and on Thursday they'll be heading back home.

The rest of the week should be pretty fun.

Left 4 Dead anyone?

The guys and I have been kicking around the idea of bringing Greetings From Riverside back. Again, this is only an idea, I'm not confirming anything. There were a lot of problems we had back then with making the series though. For one, it took up A LOT of time to film, record lines, and edit. About a month of production for each video.
So, if this is to happen we need to fix a lot of things. One of the main complaints was the acting. Back in the day I don't know what it was but our acting really sucked. Mainly because of the whisper screaming and crap, but also the general "read from this page" tone that everyone carried. We have some ideas on fixing that though.
Secondly, time management would have to be dealt with. I'm heading off to college this fall, and with classes, and another job, I will have a pretty full schedule.
There are other problems we'd need to iron out, but a lot of people seem to want the series back, so we'll consider it. If anything though, it will probably turn out to be next summer's project.

Onto other news, a new episode of Halo 3 Forges was released. Unfortunately the video was titled wrong, I'm trying to get that fixed asap, but for now, here's the link.

I'M ON FIRE!!!

Hope everyone had fun with their flaming helmets yesterday, I know we did. You'll see us with ours on Episode 73.
Yesterday's events couldn't have been timed better, the release of episode 70, the RvB Deja View, filming an awesome map, and flaming helmets. A very good bungie day.

Today I'll be editing and submitting episode 73, it'll probably come out in about 1.5 - 2 weeks. On youtube at least, all of our videos go up on Machinima.com very fast.

Filming, Fireworks, and Forgers

Last night I had some of my old friends come over, relatives to TNS Tasadarr. We did some sword fighting and shot of a good amount of fireworks. Lots of fun.

Tonight we're filming another episode, a little late due to the holiday, but the videos shouldn't see much of the delay. We found a new talented forger, so we will probably be using one of his maps tonight. Some of our viewers may notice that we've been using a lot of maps from specific people such as DIEabolical D. The reason for this is because these guys are excellent forgers, and we can rely on them. If we have a slow week, we look to one of these guys for a map.
I believe that since Reach is coming out this fall, a lot of the forgers out there have given up on Halo 3. We're gonna keep "Halo 3 Forges" going until Reach comes out, and then we'll move on to "Halo Reach Forges." But we need you guys to keep forging if we're gonna be able to do it!

Some tips for sending in maps, I know a lot of our viewers want their map featured on the show.

1. Send us the map via Halo 3 Recommendation (put it on you file share, and recommend it to Wwolf655 or Kenburn)
MAKE SURE TO LEAVE IT ON YOUR FILE SHARE!!! Too many times people have recommended me a map, only to find that they had taken it off their file share.
Please do not ask us to come to your party to look at your map. It's not that we don't want to talk to our fans or anything, we just need to look at a map from a distant perspective.

2. Try to be neat on your map. It's hard for us these days to take maps that are not geo- or ghost-merged anywhere. Show us that you really put your heart into making this map, make it look nice.

3. DO NOT NAME YOUR MAP "RECON"
If the map name is "Recon" I will NOT look at it, for the simple sake that it's usually one of those scam maps just to get your map popular. Bungie has never and will never give out Recon just because you recommended a map to 10 friends. Go get it from ODST.

And just as a side note:

We do not send maps to people, you have to download them from our file share.
You do not have to be our friend to view our fileshare.
We do not have to send you a message for you to view our file share.
Send us a chat invite, then view our profile, then view our Halo 3 File Share.

Halo 3 Forges Episodes

Halo 3 Forges Ep. 71 has now been edited and sent to Machinima.com.

A lot of people seem to think that uploading our videos is just as simple as it was before we got sponsored. The truth is that it is actually quite complicated now. There's paperwork to fill out, files to send, and then the wait for Machinima.com to upload it to youtube. Remember I just upload it to their website, they're the ones that put it on youtube. They try to put our videos up on our desired dates, but with the higher up directors videos going out, sometimes we have to be set back a little for the big guys.

Strange thing has been catching on in the Studio. Everybody now seems to like Magic: The Gathering (The card game). And yet none of us have the real cards. We've been playing on the Xbox-live arcade game for the past several days, having become quite addicted.
Last night Richard (Dragon munday) declared "We are getting some of these cards when we're down there Cameron." So yeah, I think we're hooked.

Oh yes! And our machinima payment finally arrived, a day late, but better now that they've got their whole payment program complete. Our check this time dropped a considerable amount because we didn't make a specific quota due to several delays earlier this year, but it was still a good amount. I think that gives Mackynz enough money to buy his plane ticket. Richard is driving down so that's not gonna be a problem. I've gotta find out if my financial aid for this fall will be able to cover my textbooks, if not then I have to save a very large portion of my cut. With traveling costs (it does cost quite a bit of money to drive from Raleigh to Ely) plus the cost of textbooks, I'd be looking at a pretty large bill.

By the way, new episode of Halo 3 Forges was uploaded to youtube today. Check it out!

Welcome

Hey guys, this is Kenburn from Game Over Studios,

So we have decided to begin our own blog for Game Over Studios. With this first post I'd figure I'd give you guys a few updates on the current happenings of GOS.

With the recently passed E3, our view count diminished quite a bit, so we decided to hold off on filming till the end of the event. Now that it has gone and passed, we've started filming again.

So far 3 episodes of H3F have been filmed, 2 of them already edited and submitted to Machinima to be released onto youtube.

Another thing I should mention is that episodes should be coming out more often in the future. We are now bumping up our filming schedule to two episodes of H3F a week. How quickly these videos will be published to youtube is still up to Machinima.com, but we're hoping they bump up our rate of releases with all the episodes we will be posting.
If you want to get a heads up on what's coming, just search for our videos on machinima.com, you won't be able to download the map direct from us until the video is up on youtube though.

In some non-professional news, Dragon munday and Mackynz will be visiting my house later this month. I'm hoping to get some footage of us and our antics throughout the week they are here, and probably post it for fun on our channel.

Just as a heads up, this blog will be posted by me (Kenburn) at all times in the future. So it doesn't necessarily represent the views and opinions of my staff.

-Kenburn
